Weather Wimps

Okay, I admit it. People in the Northwest (and most specifically the greater Seattle/Puget Sound area) are weather wimps. Until yesterday (July 29, 2009), the official high for Seattle (as recorded at SeaTac Airport) had never gone above 100F (it has never gone below 0F, either, but that's comments for another blog). That is, until yesterday when the official high temperature for Seattle was 103F (with outlying areas going even higher). And, our low for yesterday (71F) was also a record for being the warmest low we had ever had.

Today is supposed to be a bit cooler -- only 99F for a high.

I hear the rolling thunder

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

About 4:00 this morning, we woke up to hear thunder. We got up and sat on the couch in the living room and watched. The lightning was so bright that it illuminated everything on the ground, even if only for a brief moment. But the thunder... That was what was really neat. It kept rolling and rolling and rolling.....
