Anticipitis

Definition: An inflammation of the anticipation gland.

Symptoms:

The following symptoms have been noted in both children and adults:

  • Inability to sleep.
  • Waking up to make sure the clock hasn’t stopped.

The following symptoms are more prevalent in children:

  • Constantly asking “Are we there yet?”
  • Constantly asking “Is it time yet?”

Causes: Although no specific cause is known, the symptoms seem to occur more frequently at and around the holidays (Christmas, Easter, etc), birthdays, vacations, births of children, new jobs, school starting, and so on.

Prevention: None – just go along for the ride.
